Mr. Cole chose to become a lawyer because he wanted to help people. Following law school, he worked in the public defender's office in Island County, Washington, first as a legal intern and then as an attorney. Mr. Cole then set up his own law office in Edmonds, Washington, where he handled criminal cases and civil litigation matters. In 1992, Mr. Cole began working for the Washington Appellate Defender Association (WADA) in Seattle, where he represented indigent persons in criminal cases in Division One of the Court of Appeals.
In 1995, Mr. Cole moved to the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel (DAC), where he refined his trial skills and was also temporarily the acting appellate attorney for the agency.
In 1999, Mr. Cole started a small Seattle firm with a friend where he continued to represent persons in trial and on appeal in criminal matters. He also assisted other attorneys in civil cases, including a case that involved an individual who was severely injured in an industrial accident.
In 2001, Mr. Cole worked for a small civil litigation firm in downtown Seattle where he gained valuable experience regarding the insurance defense industry. He soon chose to return to his own private practice and he has been a sole practitioner ever since.
Mr. Cole has represented numerous people in Washington State trial and appellate courts -- in courts of limited jurisdiction, superior courts, the Washington Court of Appeals, and the Washington Supreme Court.
Mr. Cole is interested in defending people's rights in speeding and other traffic ticket cases, criminal cases, and auto accident cases.
Mr. Cole attended college at Columbia University in New York City, graduating in 1986. He then worked for two years as a research assistant at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. From there Mr. Cole enrolled in the University of Washington School of Law where he served as an associate editor of the Washington Law Review and graduated in 1991.
